Friends of Derek
At the Lucy Bell Gallery in St Leonards until 31 March 2020.
Derek Jarman (1942-1994) is known as one of Britain’s most poetic and anarchic film-makers and artists, as well as a prominent gay rights activist.
This exhibition of images, featuring Prospect Cottage and the landscape of Dungeness, is in support of Art Fund’s campaign to save this iconic building.
More than 25 years after his death, Prospect Cottage continues to be a site of pilgrimage for people who come to be inspired by its stark beauty and Jarman’s legacy.
Dreams of England, by Michael O’Pray, which we designed for the BFI in 1996, was an elegant and illuminating tribute.
